Drew's Story

Drew Caymol was an avid sports fan and competitor. The first word he ever spoke was “ball”, and in his 11 short years, he rarely would be seen without one in his hands. He enjoyed playing baseball, football, soccer and tennis, but his greatest love was basketball where he enjoyed being a part of various leagues and teams. Drew was extremely competitive and never handled losing well. He was known for throwing 2nd place trophies in the trash. Friends recall that their last memory of Drew was him sinking a three pointer, flashing a huge grin and walking out of the basketball gym that fateful night before the car accident that tragically claimed his life. Drew had a tremendous love of Jesus, his family, the Clemson Tigers, and his friends. He made the most of each day and showed concern for everyone that he came across, particularly friends and classmates that sometimes had trouble advocating for themselves. He was funny, witty and a bit stubborn, but could always be found doing something to make others laugh. Drew’s memory will forever live on in the hearts and minds of his classmates, friends, teachers, and family and now through the DC34 Foundation.

The mission of the DC34 Foundation is to honor the life and legacy of Drew Caymol through charitable contributions to scholarships, projects, and causes that were near and dear to Drew's heart.

Originally created in 2019 as a 3v3 basketball tournament by friends of Drew's in partnership with North Gwinnett High School DECA, we are thrilled to be able to grow and expand this "project of love" into a Memorial Foundation. To date, nine high school seniors have been awarded scholarships - all made possible by the generous donations of businesses and individuals.
